The Treacherous Train

In 2018 we did a winter trip where we did 6 country’s in 13 days! We started in Denmark, we went to Sweden for the day! Germany to meet our little sister and her friend for Christmas then off to Slovenia then Croatia and finally to Serbia.

We knew going from Croatia to Serbia would be the longest part of our journey. We started early in the morning waiting in a very cold bar as it was the closest thing open to the train station. We were rather excited as we were off to Serbia!

The train arrived and everyone pilled on. Everywhere looked full so we sat on the ground by the door thinking of how daunting eight hours on the floor would be. The train man came round and spoke to us. We looked helplessly at him and so he made a motion telling us to wait and off he went. The train started and we sat on our bags talking of the trip so far. The train man came back and told us to follow him so we did. He marched through the long train and we followed like robotic ducklings. We weaved through crowds of giant people all standing in the corridors. He took us to a glass cube with 6 seats in it. We thanked him and took our seats. The people on the train stared at us as Alona slept (as usual) and I watched a comedy on my phone.

I would see people opening the train windows in the corridor and stick theie heads and hands out of the window! Something I have never seen before or would recommend. I was terrified for them!

It came time to pee. Alona agreed to come with me and we went into the corridor and it was full of people hanging out of the window. I am not joking people were SMOKING. Smocking on a train! We went on down the train till we came to the toilet. We opened the door and there was cigarette butts all over the ground, one half smoked and one that was still lit just smoking away! We decided not to pee and head back to the cube. We glanced into the other cubes on our way back and everyone was laughing away with beer and shots in there hands and cicgs in there mouths. How I was wishing I could have had a beer!

Me and Alona sat back down and braced ourselves for the rest of the journey.
